Wallingford Food Festival- Sat 26th May

We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be at this year’s Wallingford Food Festival. The Festival is on Sat 26th May and doors open at 10am. We’ll be there sampling and selling our new range of bottled beers and we’re also doing a short presentation on the producers stage. We’ll be on stage at 11am talking about the different Hop and Malted Barley varieties we used in our new bottles and specifically why we chose those types.

There’s a host of brilliant local suppliers selling something to suit all tastes; whether its chilli oil or chocolate you’re after, you wont be disappointed! It’s going to be a great day and we’d encourage everybody to come and support a great local festival that’s going from strength to strength. It’s our first year as exhibitors so we’re certainly excited !

Marverine Cole (AKA Beer Beauty), journalist, presenter and Beer writer, enjoyed our bottled Ferryman’s Gold so much that when invited to do a beer tasting on ITV’s This Morning, she decided to feature it! The tasting was live at lunchtime today and the beer was really well received!

The focus of the tasting was beers that women would enjoy and certainly Holly Willoughby was very impressed.

A HUGE thank you to Marverine for deciding to feature Ferryman’s, it was amazing to see our beer on TV!

Ferryman’s Gold gets top marks from the Baron!

The Ormskirk Baron (@baron_orm on twitter) has now finished reviewing our bottled beer range and he saved the best ’till last! The final beer he and Chris Routledge (@christopher_R on twitter) tasted was our flagship beer Ferryman’s Gold and they loved it! They awarded the beer a perfect 5/5 meaning that everyone of our bottles was awarded 4/5 or higher; consistency across the board we think you’ll agree?! We’d like to thank Chris and The Baron for taking the time to review our beers, we’ve really enjoyed hearing your detailed thoughts and comments.

Summer Screens: Fright Night Friday and Blockbuster Saturday!

Summer Screens, the UK’s premier Cinema events company, are showing 2 brilliant films this weekend. On Friday night it’s the bl**dy scary, fright fest ‘The Exorcist’ and on Saturday night is the classic ‘Back to the Future’. The films are being shown at Caversham Court Gardens where they will also be a BBQ and a licensed bar stocking Loddon beer. Also, if you’re not content sitting on a deck chair, you can even book a giant beanbag for 2!

So far the showings have proved to be extremely popular and seating is limited so be sure to book early!

Brewery Tours

If you’re looking for a great night out for somebody’s birthday, or maybe you’re part of a society, or if you’re simply a group passionate about real ale, then a brewery tour is perfect for you! We love brewing beer and are very proud of our brewery so it’s always a pleasure to show people round! Think you might be interested, all the details are below:

We conduct brewery tours on a Monday to Thursday evening from 7.15-10pm. The minimum group number that we require for a brewery tour is 15 people and the maximum we can cater for is 28 (If you book and are unable to get 15 people on the night, you will still be charged for that number). The cost of the tour is £20 per person and this includes:

- A detailed tour of the brewery and an in-depth explanation of the brewing process.
- As many pints of our different beers as you’d like. (Although, irresponsible drinking is not tolerated!)
- A fish and chip supper in the brew house.

In order to book a tour, you need to contact us at the brewery on 01189 481111 with a couple of potential dates and we can check we’re free and get you booked in. After initially reserving a date, you then have one week to pay a £100 deposit to cement the booking. Your deposit can be used as part of payment on the evening or we can return it if you’d rather pay individually. If you cancel the tour less than 30 days prior to your date, your deposit will not be refunded. Sorry this sounds so official but we’ve had lots of cancellations in the past few months.

Our brewery tours are very popular so it’s advisable to book as soon as you know a date. We’re looking forward to having you!

Beer of the month: Wilfred’s Mild 3.6% (Charity Beer)

This is the third year in a row we have brewed Wilfred’s Mild and the third year that we will be donating 10p of every pint sold to All Saints Church in Dunsden. This will take our total to well over £1000 raised since we first brewed it.
The beer is named after the famous first world war poet, Wilfred Owen, who worked as a lay preacher at All Saints before he went to war. We’re very grateful to the Owen family for allowing us to use the family name and are hopeful they may call into the brewery to sample Wilfred’s Mild again this year! The beer will be available throughout May.

A Marathon effort!!

A huge congratulations to Vanessa and Sophie Hearn and Julia Markham who all successfully completed the 2012 Virgin London Marathon on Sunday! Vanessa (Brewery Director) Sophie (her daughter) and Julia (her sister) were all running for Arthritis Research UK and have so far raised over £3,600 between them and the money is still flying in. Beer of the month: Gorgeous George 4.3%

This is a true English bitter brewed for the month of April and to celebrate St Georges Day; it is the third time we have released Gorgeous George.

The finest English barley malt combines with our two oldest varieties of English hops: fuggles and goldings, to thrill your taste buds and remind you of a true, traditional, old fashioned bitter.
