Chris Hearn, director of the Loddon Brewery, near Reading, said:
“Today’s freeze in beer duty is a welcome move by the Chancellor.
”The brewing and hospitality industry in the UK supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and previous duty cuts have helped the industry thrive. To see a continuation of this is heartening and shows the chancellor appreciates the contribution we all make to the economy.
“In real terms this means the cost of a pint should now be 10p cheaper than in 2013, which is to be applauded given how the price of other commodities is continuing to soar.
“The UK is enjoying a huge beer boom at the moment and today’s duty freeze should be toasted by breweries, pubs and drinkers alike.”
